Abstract: 

KERMANSHAH IS A CITY IN WEST OF IRAN WITH A SPECIFIC CUSTOMS AND CULTURES BETWEEN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING HERE. ACCORDING TO HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS THESE CULTURES ARE VERY ANCIENT AND BELONG TO MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND YEARS. THE CLIMATE CONDITION IN THIS PLACE FORCES PEOPLE TO FIND THE SOLUTION OF THEIR PROBLEMS USING THE PLANTS AND NATURAL FACILITIES. THEREFORE TRADITIONAL HEALERS WERE SO ACTIVE IN KERMANSHAH. FROM 8000 OF PLANT SPECIES IN IRAN MORE THAN 1200 SPECIES HAS GROWN IN KERMANSHAH. THE ANCIENT CUSTOMS, CULTURES, TRADITIONAL MEDICINE AND FORMULATIONS GENERALLY USED BY RURAL POPULATIONS WAS TRANSFER FROM ANCIENT TO MODERN PEOPLE. DOCUMENTATION OF THESE TRADITIONAL METHODS WAS STUDIED IN THIS RESEARCH IN ORDER TO COMPARE AND CERTIFIED THE TRADITIONAL MEDICINE WITH MODERN METHODS AND FIND NEW DOSAGE FORMS OF DRUG WITH BOTANICAL SOURCE. IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT ABOUT 50 PLANT SPECIES AND 8 TYPES OF DISEASES WERE DISTINGUISHED AND CURED BY THESE PEOPLE. IT IS ALSO CONCLUDING THAT UTILIZATION OF THESE PLANTS APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AS APPLICATION OF PLANTS IN RECENT PUBLICATIONS.

Abstract: 

Kermanshah is a city in west of Iran with a specific customs and cultures between the people who are living here. According to historical documents these cultures are very ancient and belong to more than one thousand years. The climate condition in this place forces people to find the solution of their problems using the plants and natural facilities. Therefore traditional healers were so active in Kermanshah. From 8000 of plant species in Iran more than 1200 species has grown in Kermanshah. The ancient customs, cultures, traditional medicine and FORMULATIONS generally used by rural populations was transfer from ancient to modern people. Documentation of these traditional methods was studied in this research in order to compare and certified the traditional medicine with modern methods and find new dosage forms of drug with botanical source. It was established that about 50 plant species and 8 types of diseases were distinguished and cured by these people. It is also concluding that utilization of these plants approximately the same as application of plants in recent publications.

Abstract: 

A simple and sensitive extractive spectrophotometric method is described for determination of tropicamide. The method is based on the reaction of tropicamide and bromocresol green. The ion-paired colored complex was extracted with chloroform at pH 3. The extracted complex showed maximum absorbance at 423 nm. The complex was stable up to 2 days and obeyed Beer's law over the concentration ranges of 1.32-100.81 mg/ml. No significant interference was observed from the excipients, coloring and flavoring agents commonly used in the tropicamide PHARMACEUTICAL preparations. The proposed method was applied successfully for determination of tropicamide in commercial eye drop dosage forms.

Abstract: 

Losartan, a highly effective blood pressure lowering agent, has been widely used for the treatment of hypertension. A fast and reliable method for the determination of losartan was highly desirable to support formulation screening and quality control. A first derivative UV spectroscopic method was developed for determination of losartan in the tablet dosage form. The first derivative spectrum recorded between 220 and 320 nm, and a zero-crossing technique for first derivative measurement at 232.5 nm was selected. It is found that the selectivity and sensitivity of method to be in desirable range. In comparison with the direct UV method, the first derivative UV spectroscopy has a definite through without any interference from UV absorbing excipients. This method is also fast and economical in comparison to the more timeconsuming HPLC method regularly used for formulation screening and quality control and can be used routinely by any laboratory possessing a spectrophotometer with a derivative accessory. The linear concentration ranges were 2-50 µg/mL, (01 = -0.0159C - 0.0056, r =0.9994, n=6). Between days CV% ≤2.9, within day CV% ≤ 2.1, analytical recovery close to 98.1 % shows the suitability of the method for determination in quality control.

Abstract: 

Purpose: An accurate and precise UV spectrophotometric method with multivariate calibration technique for the determination of aripiprazole in PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS has been described.Methods: This technique is based on the use of the linear regression equations by using the relationship between concentration and absorbance at five different wavelengths. The aripiprazole shows absorption maxima at 255 nm and obeyed Beer’s law in the range of 5-30 mg/mL. Results: The results were treated statistically and were found highly accurate, precise and reproducible. This statistical approach gives optimum results for the eliminating fluctuations coming from instrumental or experimental conditions. Conclusion: It was concluded that the proposed method is simple, easy to apply, economical and could be used as an alternative to the existing spectrophotometric and non-spectrophotometric methods for the routine analysis of aripiprazole in PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS.

THE SAMPLE PREPARATION WAS AVOIDED EXCEPT GRINDING FOR PELLET FORMATION AND ELIMINATED THE USE OF TOXIC SOLVENTS. THE CALIBRATION MODEL WAS FOLLOWED BASED ON SIMPLE BEER’S LAW USING THE FTIR CARBONYL REGION (C=O) FROM 1640-1780 CM-1. DIRECT DETERMINATION WAS USED IN THE REAL SAMPLE THROUGH PEAK AREA MEASUREMENT AND USING A BASELINE CORRECTION BETWEEN 1650-1770 CM-1. FOR STANDARDIZATION AN EXTERNAL CALIBRATION LINE WAS ESTABLISHED FROM STANDARDS OF SIMVASTATIN IN KBR. THE EXCELLENT COEFFICIENT OF DETERMINATION (R2) WAS ACHIEVED (0.9911) WITH 1.09% RELATIVE STANDARD DEVIATION (RSD%) FOR 5 INDEPENDENT MEASUREMENTS.THIS WORK CLEARLY REVEALED THE CAPABILITY OF THE TRANSMISSION FT-IR SPECTROSCOPY AND EXTENDED ITS APPLICATION FOR DETERMINING THE EXACT QUANTITY OF SIMVASTATIN TO CONTROL THE PROCESSING FORMULATION AND QUALITY OF FINISHED PRODUCT WITH THE ANALYSIS TIME OF LESS THAN 3 MIN USING THE NEAT SOLID SAMPLES.

Abstract: 

Hyoscine butyl bromide (HBB), also known as scopolamine butyl bromide, is an anticholinergic medication used to treat bladder spasms, renal colic, esophageal spasms, and crampy abdominal pain. A fast and simple spectrophotometric approach is developed for the determination of hyoscine butyl bromide in pure and PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS using batch and flow injection methods. The proposed approach is based on the reduction of ferrate ion to ferrous ion by HBB and the subsequent formation of excess Fe(III)-thiocyanate complex which gave maximum absorbance at 478 nm. The experimental conditions of both methods for the assay were studied and optimized. The absorbance was found to decrease linearly with the drug concentration to give a calibration curve which obeys Beer’s law in the range of 0.5-200, and 5.0-200 μg/mL with a linear regression coefficient of 0.9964, and 0.9909 with detection limits of 1.40, and 2.10 µg/mL for both batch and rFIA methods, respectively. The proposed approaches were successively applied for the determination of the studied drugs in their different PHARMACEUTICAL dosage forms and gave an excellent per cent of recovery compared with the official international pharmacopoeia method.
